LEATHERWOLF Biography
Long before British metal legends Iron Maiden picked up on the concept, a pack of hungry Huntington Beach, CA-based teenagers, collectively known as LEATHERWOLF, pioneered and perfected the heavy metal Triple Axe Attack. Emerging from the same Orange County club scene that spawned bands like Metallica, whom they shared bills with early on,LEATHERWOLF's live wire shows and scorching eponymous debut EP (1984) quickly led to bigger and better things. Signed to Island Records, the group issued the now classic 'Leatherwolf' (1987) and 'Street Ready' (1989) albums, yielding the MTV videos 'The Calling' and 'Hideaway', respectively. Laying low for most the 90's weathering unfavorable musical climates, the band returned with a storming live album, 'Wide Open', in 1999, before releasing a much acclaimed new studio album, 'World Asylum', in 2006, re-worked and re-issued as 'New World Asylum' with original lead vocalist Michael Olivieri back in the fold. It is only fitting that 25 years after first making their mark, LEATHERWOLF are bringing their incendiary, timeless brand of metal to Rocklahoma for what is sure to be one of the festival highlights.
